"Where the land sets the table."

Tochtli Restaurant - Ruta del Maíz | Baja California

Tochtli is an open-air dining experience rooted in the agricultural landscape of Baja California's Ruta del Maíz. The design embraces the land it sits on exposed brick walls glow under warm uplighting, a mature tree anchors the heart of the space, and a hand-formed clay horno becomes both functional element and sculptural centerpiece.

A continuous wood pergola defines the dining area without enclosing it, allowing the evening breeze and the surrounding countryside to remain part of the atmosphere. Edison string lights trace the structure overhead, casting a golden warmth that transitions seamlessly from dusk into night. Bar seating lines the brick counter along one side, while communal picnic tables on a gravel bed invite a more casual, shared experience on the other.

The palette, raw brick, timber, concrete, and stone speaks a quiet, honest language that honors the region's vernacular without nostalgia. Tochtli is a place where food, landscape, and community converge.
