"A residential home that puts dignity and daily care first, built around its residents rather than around a clinical routine.”
Centro Gerontológico | DIF - State of Mexico Healthcare Institutional
Full project for DIF Huixquilucan, from initial design through construction support.
This two story facility was designed as a residential care home for elderly adults in situations of vulnerability, providing a dignified and secure environment for long term stay. The architectural massing combines a warm beige base volume with a crisp white upper volume, unified by a dark contrasting plinth that anchors the building to its corner site. Aluminum frame windows with operable awning sashes bring daylight and ventilation into resident rooms and common areas, while a fully glazed ground floor storefront opens the entrance and social spaces to the street and surrounding landscaped planters.
The program was organized to support twenty four hour specialized care, integrating medical attention, psychological support, nutrition services, nursing, and geriatric care within a single coordinated facility. Circulation and room layout were planned to allow continuous supervision while maintaining a calm, residential character rather than an institutional one. The result is a building that balances functional clinical requirements with a warm, human scaled environment focused on the comfort and dignity of its residents.
